Event Name: The Mint 400
Date(s): March 9th – 11th
Location: Las Vegas, Nevada
The Mint 400 has been a staple off-road race for over 45 years, starting back in 1967 to serve as a publicity stunt for the Mint Hotel. After a successful first run, the race became a staple and grew to include the Miss Mint 400 pageant, parties, a pit crew challenge, and more.
The event is huge. The Bureau of Land Management caps the enrollment at around 350 team, and so far there has always been a waiting list of teams wanting to race. The Mint 400 boasts the biggest prize purse, along with TV coverage, spectator engagement and accommodation, social media outreach, and much more. Mad Media has invested hundreds of thousands of dollars into improving the Mint 400 to make it the biggest American off-road race, while keeping spectators in mind with plenty of areas to view the race and fun activities throughout the week.
The event starts with a procession of the competing cars down Las Vegas Blvd., and is followed by a huge kick off celebration (one of many parties during the Mint 400). The next day is all time trials, followed by some meet-and-greets, as well as the crowing of the Miss Mint 400, the pit-crew challenge, and another party. Friday is full of registration and meetings, and after a hard day of business, there is another party. The races take place on Saturday, followed by a victory party, and the week is finished off with the awards ceremony on Sunday.
Any vehicle that can pass a Best in the Desert car inspection is welcome to compete in the race.
