Brian Caprara and his co-driver Gabe Rodriguez have been lifelong friends that have shared an enthusiasm for speed and off-roading. These two are a couple lettuce farmers from the salinas valley enjoying one of the craziest races created
Brian Caprara is fairly new to the Ultra4 Racing scene. He got his start in the world of Rock Crawling back in the late 90s, and was hooked on the off-road racing life. After competing in rock crawling off and on for a few years, Brian and his friends decided to head to King of the Hammers as spectators, and were hooked.
They group knew that they wanted to compete, and so they began training. Brian originally took a spot as a co-driver, but after a few practice rounds he discovered that he would much rather be driving, thus leading him to have Gabe Rodriguez as his co-driver.
The two made their Ultra4 competitive debut at 2013’s King of the Hammers where they ended up finishing in the top 20. Then duo then went on to compete at the 2014 Ultra4 National Championship in Reno, snagging not only 12th place but an entry to the 2015 King of the Hammers.
2015 proved a rough year at King of the Hammers where electrical issues forced them to quit the race. Not to be held back, Caprara invested in a new car (Wayland Campbell’s old car to be specific) which raced its inaugural run at the Fallon 250 where he placed 4th. They competed again at this year’s 2016 King of the Hammers where they finished 7th.
Brian Caprara says the biggest changes he has seen in the racing/Ultra4 community so far is simply the technology of the cars. The rigs are getting more advanced and integrating new technology.
