Date: August 11-14th, 2016

Location: Uwharrie National Forest, NC

Guest Name: Scott Fields

The BFGoodrich 36 Hours of Uwharrie is a fairly new event. Though the first official one will take place in August, it is based on triathlon wheeling events from the recent past. As event co-founder Scott Fields stated, “it’s a very long weekend of challenging trails.” The event was created in October of 2015, and by August of 2015 it was ready for a dry run.

The event will consist of a variety of different tasks including, but not limited to; shooting, canoeing, and navigation. 36 Hours of Uwharrie is designed to challenge the toughened off-roader, and will present more tasks that  can actually be completed in the designated time frame. This mental aspect of the event makes the event more challenging as teams compete to achieve the highest amount of points.

The event is held at the Uwharrie Off-Road Training Center, a 5 thousand acre facility and track located smack dab in the middle of the 50 thousand acre national forest located in North Carolina. The Training Center was founded in 2011 mostly focused on ATVs, then eventually branched into other aspects of the off-road world like 4WD, SxS, and swap/water capable crafts. The center focuses on training people to be safe and properly operate their vehicles, and has trained a variety of different vehicle owners, from the military to the typical recreational off-roader.
